[ site | away policy and update revision ]

So, after a second look I found that many, many things were wrong with the most recent update (eg. broken links, files that weren't uploaded etc.), but, thankfully, it was easily fixed. The fanfic-portion of the update should be fully accessible, but if you found problems with other sections of the update... what, you mean you're not just here for the fics??

Please let us know if you do encounter trouble, regardless. It would be a great help and we can't say how much we appreciate it when people lend us a hand!

However, if you do contact us sometime in the immediate future with problems, they may not be resolved until sometime late January. As some of you may know, Mage and I are going overseas for about six weeks and won't be able to work on the site while we're away. In our absence Braken will be at the head of operations and any queries or problems should be referred to him.

Now, I'm sure Braken will be as much of service as he can, but if he says something can't be done, just trust him. Badger not, demand not and we'll all do what we can with what we have. Mage and I will have limited online access, but should be able to do a few urgent things here and there if need be. I'm sure there will be a need, so please have patience.

So, in about eight hours we're headed for typhoon territory to spend money we don't have. Well, money that I don't have ;]. If our bodies end up on the six o'clock news, you had all better be extra nice to Braken so he just might continue the tradition of Noire Sensus and feed you ficcage on an annual basis.

Bwahahaha.... ! =D

In the meantime, the staff at Noire Sensus wish everyone a fun and relaxing holidays with best wishes for the new year! And even if you don't get a real holiday, we wish you well all the same :].

P.S. Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. Looks fucken awesome. Want to find out more? Google is your friend =P.

Take care everyone!

edit :: Some new authors were doubly notified that their work had now been uploaded, my bad! Sorry for clogging your inbox!

[ site | update 29 November 2004 ]

Big site-wide update - plenty of changes around the site as well as new stories. Sorry for the gargantuan delay - been slogging away at uni and before we knew it, we were in November. But! The long awaited update is finally here :)

First of all, face-lift for Apocrypha our Fushigi Yuugi site - in the hopes that it'll make us want to work on it again. All sitemaps around Noire Sensus now have graphical sitemaps because according to the courses I was taking, all we had before were text lists; the idea is to make it easier for you to understand how the site's structured and find your way around.

Plenty of new images in the Image Archive: we've added a new gallery full of pictures from the new Softmax game, Magna Carta: Crimson Stigmata. There are also new pictures in the Fushigi Yuugi and Final Fantasy VIII sections.

Other things that have happened around the site are: plenty of new quotes in the Quotes Archive, revised the FFVIII Character Profiles - just small things here and there, completed Advent so now all sections are up and running, and we keep adding new communities to the Communities Directory (it is still very, very incomplete, but it's a start).

The FAQ has also been updated with belated details of our site policy and responses to persistent concerns that underage viewers are given free access to adult material (1.9 & 1.10). Please review the FAQ on these matters and don't hesitate to contact us if there are further questions, issues or problems you would like us to address.

The URL for Puremagnetism has changed amd we have also reviewed our links directory, both graphic and text versions to find that a large portion of them were no longer active! The directories have since been revised, but if you notice your site was taken down it's because the URL we listed is inactive. If your site has simply relocated to a new address or you're new and would like us to add you to our links directory, don't wait, just drop us a line!

A number of people have been having login problems at the forums and we're steadily dealing with reports. If you have also encountered trouble of any forum-related kind let us know so we can trouble-shoot and give you back full functionality as soon as possible!

The change behind the scenes is that Eilis Siani and Wolfie will no longer be actively working on Noire Sensus. Instead, their roles have changed to those of consultants and they will still be helping us behind the scenes working on site policy, PR, and other such issues.

The major development this update regarding the fanfiction is that I've completely rebuilt the Final Fantasy VIII archive, the Garden Card Catalogue - getting around is still basically the same, but I've made some changes to the layout, added more categories and revised the different sections and it's now (hopefully) easier to use and navigate. Oh, and minor changes to some colours used in that section - you probably won't notice, but we do :) Three authors are also leaving us this update - Dixi Nihil, hazelnut, and T-Bandit; we wish them well where ever they go from here :)

We have three new fandoms in our archives: Castlevania, King of Fighters, and Van Helsing.

We haven't really had the opportunity to go out looking for new fics (the evils of education!), but we do have some stories this update. To view the fanfic updates, go through the Bookshelf - 24 new authors and 159 new fics today - Have a great holiday!

[ status report | still working on it ]

K said I should drop a line here to let everyone know we haven't abandoned the site.

We've just been incredibly busy with workloads we didn't expect to be anywhere near as heavy as they turned out to be. Well, at least in my case since I dropped a subject. Way too heavy for the amount of credit we get for it. Oh well. Also, we're in the thick of final assessment for the year. Translation: we might actually get some work done soon, but no dates are finalised.

Anyway, about the site: we are working on it. I've actually had quite a few non-fic stuff ready to go for months now, but I figured everyone was waiting for the fics. So no update. Well, I've finally started the archiving with what we've managed to format. FF8 and LotR are archived thus far, as well as some of the smaller fandoms. HP is up in the air; I know what's happening with some authors, but not others. Waiting for the assessment frenzy to die down a little before we get some communications going. Tekken I haven't a clue 'cos I'm not to touch it on fear of death.

Uh, and yeah ::shrugs:: There was - surprise surprise - another change I wanted to implement in the hardcoding this update. It's what took the longest and slowed everything down. That, and the major group projects I've been ensconced in. Offically not the project manager, but I think for most involved we all feel like the PM. Thank god everyone else in the team does their work and then some >< And I have a final presentation next Monday. The joy.

So yeah. I better get back to the archiving. See ya guys later :)

[ site | harry potter fic awards site ]

I was just wondering if anyone knew what was happening with Quills, a Harry Potter fanfiction awards site. We have it linked in Gramarye but the site seems to have disappeared; all I get is a forbidden page. Admittedly, I'm very behind what's going on in the fandom. I've taken the link down for now pending some news from the owner of the site or anyone who knows what's going on.

What's going on update wise: well, um, the workload for this semester is surprisingly heavy, so I'm not sure what's going on. Just getting deliverables in by the deadlines and finding a little time to relax has been difficult. Things were so much easier when I didn't bother keeping up! We have some fics formatted and right now I'm having another look at some of the archives. Hopefully it won't be that much longer >

[ misc | re: mailing list and other news ]

A shout out to the world! Hope everyone's doing well, we're still alive and we haven't abandoned the site. Admittedly our updates are coming less frequently these days, but we're working behind the scenes (believe it or not). Sorry to all those who have been waiting for the next update, it has been over two months since anything major o0;

For those subscribed to the update mailing list, if you received an email recently with a note that you had been unsubscribed, please ignore it. Various things hiccuped, the mail server (presumably) bounced and around sixty people were simultaneously unsubscribed. If Mage is around later she might give more detailed technical information if she has an idea of what happened. However, it was easily fixed and that's all I care about :}

So, a brief recap of what's been happening on our side. Six out of seven staff recently returned to university for the year's second semester after concurring the last an unrepeatable disaster on several fronts. The determination to see better results has meant Mage and I don't spend much time on the computer these days, which has kept the wider world in the dark regarding the status of the website. We're very sorry about this and hope our loyal viewers will be patient with us!

Mage has a growing list of things that need to be done and we're ploughing our way through it (at a gradual pace =P), but some things that you can expect from the impending update: new subarchive template, expansion of fanworks area to incorporate more than the mere fanfiction, new links and authors, and of course, new stories. Other areas around the site will be updated, but just which ones and to what degree remains to be seen.

On an unrelated and purely self-serving note: a) Who can pass on any news of Square Enix's new FFVII-esque game "Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII"? For those who aren't aware it's purportedly set six years before the events of Final Fantasy VII, presents the perspective(s) and stories of the Turks, and looks so, so very awesome. Up to three people can join in the gameplay (via wireless networking), which sounds like a vast improvement to vicarious enjoyment through Ye Whom Holds the Controller. Current release date is for 2005, but one can expect that date to be pushed back.

In conclusion, I'm very in love with Reno. In case you're not already, go here and take a look at the latest AC scan from 23-07-2004. Everything looks amazing... I don't even have eyes for Vincent any more. ;_;

b) On the subject of release dates I'm still waiting on one for "Advent Children". Anyone? Feed me truth, feed me lies, but I must hear news! Heartflutter!

c) Square Enix is trying to kill me from the excitement. My heart can't take much more of this. Squee with me.

Take care, everyone!

[ forum | round robin ]

For those interested, the Round Robin subforum is again up and running on the NS forums.

There are some preliminary notes and rules that may be modified over time. I'm going to run a poll and see what members think about the viewing policy - at the moment, viewing is open to the public, but you must be a registered member to participate. It's very simple (and yes, free) to join, anyone can be part of it. :]

[ site | update revision ]

Made some changes that were brought to my attention after the last update:

Darkangel Rose's email has been changed in her author profile and all her stories. All the crossovers in the bookshelf that linked back to the Garden (and were broken because of the site reconstruction!) have been fixed; so you can now get to the stories. And finally, we've revised Roman's story, "Havoc of the Opera" - new authors notes at the beginning and end, and mid-story author's notes have been moved. The updated version is now available on the server :)

[ site | update 22 May 2004 ]

The site has finally been updated - with fics! Plenty o' fics, including a few in the Chronicles on top of the update that went up two weeks ago. I know I promised a quicker update, but when I got started I realised I could get all the submissions up, so I did :) I didn't think it was fair if only PotC and FF8 had new fics while the others sat waiting. Almost all the fandoms have new stories in them, we have four new fandoms (DoA Extreme Beach Volleyball, Fake, FFX-2, and Soul Calibur), and lots of new fics plus updated chapters to read through.

There have also been plenty of other updates around the site: one new affiliate, The Black Slash Archive, new links, updated author information, new quotes, revised character profiles - and a new archive! Remember that FFVII archive I've been fiddling with since last year? Well, it's finally here: Advent is our newest archive and yes, we are taking submissions :) Here's hoping Advent Children creates new fodder for the muses to chew on ;)

To check out further details on this update, go to Noire Sensus' update page. From there, you can check out all the new content on site :)

[ site | affiliates & the dojo ]

Mini-update today, because we had to fix some links: we have a new affiliate, The Potter Slash Archive, and the URL for Lirimaer has changed, so please update your bookmarks and links.

Also, people might have noticed that the Chronicles have been updated - it was an accident that occured when we were trying to fix the archive, but what can we do. So! New Tekken fics are up, and before everyone cries foul, I'm trying to get as many fics up as I can for the other archives within the week. It won't be all the fics we need to get up, but at least it'll be something.
